The weather is warming and your minds turn to the golf course. As soon as this thought hits your mind, you get ready with your golf clubs. It's a great time to practice or to think about learning the basics of golf. The important tip in playing good golf is how to have a proper golf club grip. Basically there are 3 types of golf grips: overlapping, ten fingers and interlocking. This article will explain about basics of gripping a golf club.
The best golf grip is all about the fingers and how you keep them while holding the golf club. Many golfers make very common mistakes while holding the golf clubs. They either hold the golf club in the palm of their hand or grip the golf club too tightly. Tight and hard grips restrict the rotation of the club and hinder in the way of a good shot.
You should have an idea of your top hand (lead hand). For example if you are right handed then your lead hand will be the left one and vice versa. Your top hand will be placed first on the golf club. The head of the golf club should be square to the ball and grip the club across your fingers. By doing this your thumb should be extended down the shaft and pointing towards the ball. In a proper golf club grip your finger line will start at the second joint of your lead hand's index finger and this will end at the pad of the little finger. Your thumb should be straight down.
Follow these tips to make your every shot perfect and get expected results from them. Most golfers don’t realize that their grip needs work and rest of their game is just about perfect. As soon as they start to maintain a proper grip, their game changes dramatically. Same could be the case with you if you are practicing too much and not getting the results. Try to judge if you are gripping the golf club correctly and see if it is the thorn in your way of perfecting your game.
