As long as we can think of, golf has always been known as a gentleman’s game. Golf has its own rules and etiquettes. Even though a lot of people think that these rules and etiquettes are meant to retain the gentlemanly state of the game, but the truth is that these rules and etiquettes have a lot of practical reasons. Let’s break down these rules and etiquettes so that I can explain to you that why golf is known as a gentleman’s game.
The first part consists of the safety of other golfers. To avoid the risk of hitting your fellow golfers make sure that you don’t swing until you are sure that the area around you is clear. In addition to this you need to make sure that you don’t hit the ball unless the group playing in front of you as out of your range. In case you find that the ball is heading in the direction of the group or a person, all you need to do is to yell “Fore”, a code word that has been known since ages in the game of golf. Don’t be unseemly and throw your golf clubs because you might end up hurting others. Maintain the flow of the game is also really important. Make sure that you are always ready for your turn so that the other players don’t have to wait for a long time to play their shot. The away player (player with the ball farthest from the green) will always play the shot before others. This will save a lot of time that you might waste debating on who will play the shot.
Now, if you read the above rules carefully, you will see that these rules are not only for the maintenance of the gentlemanly state of the game but they are also there for the safety reasons.
